Okay, I joke. I didn’t burn down the house, which is a miracle, because this is the first time I’ve ever baked chocolate chip cookies without them failing!
As you know, I’ve mentioned my neighbor, Mardel, a few times. She taught me how to sew, and taught me how to bake cookies. I am forever grateful for her wisdom, and her ability to concentrate the force(!!!) when it comes to teaching me.
She taught me an awesome choco-oat-chip recipe that I will share with you, because all amazing cookie combinations must be shared.
CHOCOLATE CHIP OATMEAL COOKIES!!!
Preferably you should use a mixer, and cream together the following first…
1/2 cup Shortening
1/2 cup Butter
3/4 cup Brown sugar
3/4 cup Sugar
Now add these to the creamed mix…
1 tsp. Vanilla
In a separate bowl, mix together…
2 1/4 cup Flour
1 tsp. Baking soda
1/4 tsp. Salt
Now go ahead and pour this into the cookie mix… then go ahead and add…
1 1/2 cup Oatmeal
Let that mix together until it looks like the oatmeal is spread evenly.
Now remove the bowl from the mixer, and manually stir in the chocolate chips.
I would start with 1/2 cup of chips, but you can always add more if that doesn’t look like enough.
Now, this is my favorite part…
Pour some sugar into a bowl (not too much!), and after rolling a cookie in your hands, pat only one side of the cookie into the sugar, then put uncoated side down into the pan.
Do this until your pan is filled with amazing cookies, then cook them at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.
Enjoy as I am enjoying right now. ^__^
